Gps cannot see any satellites or get a lock -- from AUDIOBASTARD #81

My gps cannot see any satellites or get a gps lock. I'm hoping the
included log will help you determine if its a software issue or whether my
gps hardware is broken.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
turning on google maps or any nav software including gps status. I tried
this with wireless location assistance and without and its the same problem

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see satellites in gps status, but I do not. I also expect to
get a lock on my location in google maps and nav software, but it is always
searching for the satellite.

What version are you using?

LCR 1.4 with the .010 bin.

Did you wipe?
yes

Please attach a log from "adb logcat > log.txt" please.

I am attaching a log I did with phone's terminal. I started the log, then
went outside and turned on google maps. About 10 minutes later I came back
inside and turned off logging and uploaded the zipped log files.

Please provide any additional information below.

I'm really just hoping you could find out if its a problem with my gps
hardware being broken or not. I don't expect a fix or anything like that.
 Thank you guys, you rule!!!

I have tried all the things you mentioned (ephemeris, no app restore, fresh
bins and
roms). Nothing works. For example, I install a fresh stock 1.6 bin and only
gps
status from the market and I get no satellites. I try it with ephemeris and
still
nothing. I try toggling gps on and off and still nothing. Probably hardware
at this
point.

anyone reading these comments? Anyway, i was driving today using google maps
manually and I noticed that my gps icon in notification bar stopped flashing
and i
guess got a lock. But, arrow in maps kept flashing. I opened up gps status
and I
was finally get latitude and longitude datum. BUT< the data did not change as I
drove and no MPH was showing so I don't know what the hell is going on. It was
an
improvement though. by the way, if I just open gps status, it never shows
lat/longitude data. Seems only in google maps and that's only partial lock I
guess.
Weird man... spooky... frightening... TERRIFYING RAWWWWR!!! ok.. there you go.
ENjoy the read.

Thank you for asking. The gps doesn't lock. I have the same problem as
before. My
icon in the notification bar is solid which should signal a gps lock, but the
applications do not behave as if gps data is being transmitted. Here is an
example:

I was driving home from chicago and decided to turn on copilot just to see if
anything has changed. Nothing happened for about 20 minutes and all I saw was
"searching for gps signal". Surprisingly, after 20 minutes, I heard a BEEP and
noticed that my gps locked for a moment and showed my current position on the
software.

BUT< it was only for a split second. The software froze and didn't even have a
lock
long enough to orient the display in the direction I was driving. THen it went
back
to "searching for gps signal." This is the same thing that happens in google
maps.
I get a "blip" of gps data and the gps icon shows a lock, but its only for a
second
and no usable gps data is transmitted further. My gps sees no satellites. So,
to
answer your question, my gps is still broken. I figure at this point that it is
hardware related.

The compass works fine though.

I am sad to read this. Unfortunatly you really have a hardware problem. You
will have
to send your phone to support. Do it while it is still under warranty (reflash
latest
official donut update first)

just in case, install patch provided in issue 89. As i have made some changes
to the
kernel, maybe it could have an effect on your issue. No risk to try.
