This subject is defined as a General Usage, and is not an additional template. it is about defining certain structures and PSets.

Stationing uses two particular Psets (Pset_Stationing and optionally Pset_LinearRefereningMethod) assigned to IfcReferent (PsetStatkoing and optionally Pset_LInearReferencingMethod) or IfcAlignment (optionally Pset_LinearReferencingMethod). It also uses the already defined CT regarding referent nesting which needs documentation text - and shouldn't IfcElement be specialized to IfcReferent in that CT?. To specify a station for a product, the existing CT product relative positioning is used (referencing an IfcReferent/Pset_Stationing).

I would assume that Stationing includes only the part where stations along an alignment is handled and not positioning a product relative to a station/IfcReferent (which is Product Relative Positioning). I interpret the discussion like this:

• We have the CT:s that we need (Referent nesting, Product Linear Placement, (Product Relative Positioning - not needed here I assume) and Property Sets for Objects)
• In the general usage section for IfcXxx (IfcAlignment/IfcLinearPositioningElement?) we need to combine these to achieve the explicit specification for Stationing. Nested IfcReferent that shall be linearly placed and have Pset_Stationing and optionally Pset_LinearReferencingMethod. The IfcAlignment may also have an optional Pset_LinearReferencingMethod.
