What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Call smatool
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Every time I call smatool, the following lines are logged in /var/log/messages:

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.
The problem is reproducable - each time smatool is called the message is
logged. I googled around but did not find any hint. Today I updated the
kernel to 2.6.32-41squeeze2 - without any change.
