I think there was some talk about maybe adding a default "Alt" and "Title" field on images which would prefill the value for a particular usage of the file (which could then be overridden).
Something similar would be great for cropping -- a default crop that got set the first time someone cropped an image to a particular style. This could be overridden on additional usages of the file, and the default could be changed on the Manage File page.
