Improved button for "Add another paragraph" #137

Having worked on a Drupal 9 site with paragraphs recently and now working on a Backdrop CMS site with paragraphs, I can say that I am much happier with the UI for building paragraphs in Backdrop CMS.

However, one frustration I have is that I ALWAYS click on the "Add Another Paragraph" button before selecting which type of paragraph I want. Something draws me to the button, before making my selection. Either the button is too big or the fact that it says exactly what I want to do, makes me think I should click it immediately. In fact, its the last thing I need to do to accomplish my task.

I think that something that takes focus away from the button would be REALLY helpful. Something more like this:

I should look at similar UI's elsewhere in Backdrop and suggest something even more specific. I'll come back to this when I have time.

Sounds reasonable. Have you also tested whether using the buttons instead of the dropdown feels better for you?

I had not tested the buttons, because I expected something like this (and I was correct). image

Now, if we had fewer paragraph types, this might be a good idea and might solve my problem. I'm not sure I want to do this, with some many possible paragraphs.

Note: My previous proposal was my first proposal after not much thought. It may not be the best idea.

@stpaultim - I think that proposal makes sense. I've been creating a lot of paragraph content lately and I think what you propose would feel more intuitive. Like you said, buttons to select only works when there are only a few open to the editor for any given content type (or embedded paragraph type)
