Open Graph 'Site Name' field #16

What is the purpose of this field? It seems that the only value it should have is the website name, in which case why is it present on each node, page, etc.?

...optional for any object and are generally recommended... The Open Graph protocol:

og:site_name - If your object is part of a larger web site, the name which should be displayed for the overall site. e.g., "IMDb".

Actually, I do not use it at all, so if you and someone else can recommend to me remove it - OK, it is possible.
