Backdrop CMS - Goal Setting Meetings

Over the last few weeks, we've discussed having special goal settings sessions in each of our weekly meetings. We've at least tentatively set the following dates:

• Outreach: Goal Setting Meeting - January 23rd
• Design and UX: Goals Setting Meeting - January 30th

We were going to set the date for the DEV planning meeting last week, but the DEV meeting never happened last week. I'm going to suggest that we have that one on January 30th (although we could start discussing goals this week as well).

Since the first of these potential goal setting meetings is coming in a few days, I thought it would be good to get out a blog post that we can promote via Twitter, Newsletter (??), and News Feed on the Dashboard. I also thought we could gather feedback in the forum as well.

Opening this topic for feedback on this plan and the text of the blog post/forum topic.

Blog Post:

Backdrop CMS just turned 5 years old with it's 15th release. Over the next few 
weeks, we'd like to reflect on how far we have come and set some goals for the 
upcoming year. 

Over the next 2 weeks, we're setting aside our regular weekly meeting agendas 
and taking some time to look at the big picture and set some goals for the 
upcoming year. If you are not a regular participant in these meetings, this 
would be a good time to drop in and share some feedback. 

The following meetings are designated as special goal setting meetings:

Everyone is welcome to help us plan out the next year. Even if you are not usually 
able to attend our weekly meetings, this is a great chance for you to drop in and 
offer feedback and input on our agenda for the next year.

I think both the plan and your text seem great, Tim! I appreciate the heads up and plan to attend this Thursday's meeting, so spreading the word even further seems like a good idea.

Small copy edit, remove the apostrophe from "it's" in the first sentence of the blog post.

Well, I've not gotten any feedback except for the comments from @jackaponte .

Specific dates were set during actual meetings for both the Outreach and Design/UX meetings, so I feel comfortable promoting those. BUT, no date was officially set for the Development planning meeting, so I change that to TBA. I'd like to hear from @quicksketch before publicizing a date for that meeting, since @quicksketch is the one who usually runs that meeting.

For now, I'm made the small copy change that @jackaponte recommended and published both the blog post and forum post.

These meetings happened already and lots of good ideas emerged. In particular, we've decided to pursue "initiatives" as a way to prioritize energy and address some of the bigger issues.

We still need to finalize on a process for selecting initiatives. Also, we need to talk about other things that need followup from our planning meetings.

I will leave this issue open for at least a little while with the intention of encouraging folks to think about what else we need to do to follow-up with everything that came up during our planning meetings.
