I especially like the mentioning of the following (which I often find to be overlooked in other communities):
I don't think that this bit is helpful or of any value:
or any other characteristic protected by law.
...it shouldn't matter if a characteristic is protected by a specific/written law or not; if it is something that should be respected, it should be respected.
In the interest of fostering a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment, we as community members, contributors, and maintainers pledge to making participation in Backdrop and our community a harassment-free experience for all, regardless of personal appearance, race, color, national origin, ethnicity, citizenship status, geographic location, religion, disability, age, body size, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation/preferences, socioeconomic status, level of experience or technical ability (or lack thereof).
Did I miss anything important? ...can any of those safely be grouped together and/or that list becoming shorter?
I don't personally see any value in including things like genetic information
and military status
...I have never heard of any discriminating cases against those (but could be wrong).
I think, but not sure, that race, colour, national origin, ethnicity and citizenship status could be grouped under ethnic origin
Here's what we have now:
This is Pantheon's:
This is Lullabot's:
Can/should we take from these good examples and improve our own?
