To do: add sub-categories, cf. discussion on Gitter:
Jen: I set up https://forum.backdropcms.org/forum/backdrop-translations, let me know if you need more than that?
Olaf: (...) Is it possible to configure this section so that it allows to add sub-topics? Like in Forum > Backdrop Translations > French > My topic.
Jen: I don't think we have the forum set up to do that right now. Maybe could add a field for language, and fake it? (...) eh, that's going to need some work (...) can you make another ticket?
Olaf: (...) Can we reopen backdrop-ops/forum.backdropcms.org#77 instead? The "more work" part is already in the issue description:
what we'd need instead is a category called "Translations" and a sub-category (on demand) for each language where people can post topics regarding individual language strings
Jen: yep, that sounds good
@jenlampton Can you reopen this issue? I don't have permissions to do so.
yes :)
Finally coming back to this issue! Activities around localize.backdropcms.org have confirmed my impression: It would be very helpful to provide the option for separate sub-forums of the Backdrop Translations Forum, i.e. on demand one sub-forum per translation group.
@jenlampton You wrote some time ago, that's going to need some work. Can I help in some way to make it happen?
Translation groups on the translation server need a forum or other tools to discuss translation questions. On the Backdrop Weekly meeting of Aug 9th 2018 it was mentioned that the Backdrop Forums seem to be a convenient tool.
The approach discussed in the meeting was to provide a topic called "Translations" with the option to create a sub-topic for each language. I'm not sure if it would work with topics. I guess what we'd need instead is a category called "Translations" and a sub-category (on demand) for each language where people can post topics regarding individual language strings. Is that possible?
