Plug is a platform that brings flexibility and transparency to online payments. Through one integration to our digital hub, we provide merchants with the ability to dynamically work with the best payment service providers (gateways, acquirers, PSPs, etc) on a transaction to transaction basis.

Beyond providing flexibility and redundancy, Plug improves acceptance rates and optimizes costs through our intelligent transaction routing.

We’re a well-funded startup backed by experienced and strategic angels from the tech and payments space. The team is currently comprised of senior professionals experienced in early and late-stage technology companies as well as in the payments space.

Founding Team: Alex is a cofounder and CEO of Plug. Previously he was a director at Chute (YC W12) where he led the expansion to the east coast and then to Europe. Most recently Alex was at Braintree_PayPal where he managed Southern Europe for Braintree.

Thiago is the cofounder and COO of Plug. Previously he was a cofounder and Product Manager at Medicinae, a venture backed startup in the medical payments and factoring space. Before Medicinae, he used his engineering background in finance before making the switch to tech and working at Finxi, a software house, where he was the PM for a variety of startup launches.

Along with Thiago and Alex, the team is comprised of

3 senior back-end engineers well versed in the development of scalable platforms and APIs
a consulting company establishing our PCI compliant infrastructure
an advisor/mentor with extensive experience in the payments space coordinating engineering efforts.

Position

We’re looking for a senior back-end engineer to join our team and tackle the challenge of designing and building a fast, secure, stable, publicly consumed API to make online payments easily available to a larger number of online retailers. We’re in the early days of development, and require someone interested in contributing to the foundational build. The ideal candidate is committed to using best practices in scalability, quality, usability, and cost. While our tech stack is currently comprised of Node.js, Python and Elixir, we believe in using the best tool for the job and are looking for someone who is adaptable and loves researching and selecting the best solution from all available languages and technologies.

Requirements

Knowledgeable in designing and building well tested, secure and scalable back-end services utilizing a microservice architecture
Accomplished in delivering software in a timely and reliable fashion through continuous delivery and agile methodologies
Experienced in development and maintenance of well documented, publicly available APIs designed for large scale consumption
Experienced in consumption and integration of third-party APIs
Skilled in analyzing scopes and demands, as well as ideating possible solutions
Interested in learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with the team

Desired:

Familiar with payment service provider integration, such as Cielo, PayPal, Rede, Stripe, etc
Experienced in building complex backend systems using Node.js, Elixir, Python, or Java
Experienced in handling and securing sensitive data through techniques such as tokenization
Proficient in English to read the required documentation
