Yeah, I thought about this earlier, too. Would you want just an easier way of seeing all of the winners, or would the ability to just print off the award certificates straight from the website also work?

I think the lowest effort way would be too just have a page that is the results but not bounded by scroll and with a white background. Then you can just print that off.

@jordanlkirk99 Reckon between the 2 of us we can get this in before SB19?

@jubjamie The page currently can be printed with a white background clearly showing all results, only issue I see is the result tables cross page breaks, atleast thats how it appears using desktop Chrome. What do you mean by in scrolled div?
In GitLab by @jubjamie on May 1, 2019, 00:26
It looks like something has changed so that the page scrolls properly now as before the content was in it's own div if I remember correctly which meant that chrome would only print what could be seen. As @jordanlkirk99 says it can now be printed properly so I guess this can be closed unless you guys have a desire to make it exportable in different way. I'll leave it up to you to close the issue but from my point of view I think i'm satisfied.

I think ideally winner certificates could be printed directly from the website, saving someone the effort of recreating them each year.
We'd want to keep a detailed results breakdown so whoever chairs the ceremony knows the nominations and if it was a close result etc. The page could be cleaned up for printing (remove UI, remove large logo taking half a page, tables crossing multiple pages. But this feels like little pay off for the work, used annually and read by a single person.

FWIW in my experience creating the certificates is no big deal and I personalised a couple of them to theme them to the award (such as the fresher of the year one being done like a pre-school type certificate). I think there are much better things to spend time on than that. The way is appears to be atm is more than fine and does the job.

@bnjns unless you object I think we can close this

I want a proper export functionality - printing the results seems like a temporary stop-gap until we add an actual solution in.
In GitLab by @jordanlkirk99 on May 1, 2019, 21:45
What does proper exporting look like?
In GitLab by @bnjns on May 1, 2019, 21:50
I've not scoped it out or thought about it really, so I don't know yet. I just don't think "you can just print the webpage" is ever really a good enough solution if we can build some actual functionality in.

It would be handy next year to have an export of the votes for use at the BBQ. Current option is to copy and paste the contents of the scrolling div into word and do some formatting. Can't print the page either as it's all in a scrolled div or similar.
Cheers
