r.bing.com is blocked in this list (and Energized Basic+), rendering lot of UI unusable. I've searched the internet and it's the only source of this blocking. It is also whitelisted by blockconvert (https://mkb2091.github.io/blockconvert/). Is this a tracking server?

I doubt it is. Where does it break the said UI?

migueldemoura commented 3 years ago

I can remove it from the list if needed, can you provide a link where blocking that one breaks the website?

gitthangbaby commented 3 years ago

https://www.bing.com/ * it breaks a lot of UI. it makes bing websites more static. for example change time filter in bing or unroll the settings on the top right. if you go to settings, nothing will be saved. in bing maps, you can't press a single button, can't move maps. it will act like a screenshot.

I'm unable to reproduce this issue, are you by any chance logged in? What requests are being blocked?

gitthangbaby commented 3 years ago

https://www.bing.com/search?q=test (not logged in, Firefox 93, Edge 90, also reproduced in Chrome 94 after changing language to USA-English.. there seems to be some language impact here)

1)

turn on 1hosts.cf-pro.txt 68 r.bing.com no response 70 www.bing.com HTTP200 -> can't press Any time combo box, or topright settings icon

2)

turn off 1hosts.cf-pro.txt 200 r.bing.com HTTP200 72 www.bing.com HTTP200 -> UI works

migueldemoura commented 3 years ago

I can't reproduce this with that URL and settings (there's no request to r.bing.com). My crawler hasn't gotten any hits for this host in a while, so I'll investigate this when I get some data. In the meantime, I've moved this host to ads-tracking-breaking with https://github.com/migueldemoura/ublock-umatrix-rulesets/commit/80f8a17a778bbd412d62a907d36bc7d8b405b3d1.

It might be geo position trigered.

Cheers
