I have talked to the developer of the XEP-0313 patch for Pidgin.
The problems that appear with a patched Pidgin is, that the Prosody
mod_mam module does not support the spec v0.3.
There are 2 problems which are not implemented:
-complete attribute MUST be set in fin message when all requested messages sent
-paging not working because server ignoring set after tag
