When I start a podcast on Spotify and try to select volumio the volumio device is greyed out. Screenshot_20191215-113523~2

balbuze commented 4 years ago

does it occur only for podcasts?

mttkrb commented 4 years ago

Yes. Several podcasts like 'Fest und flauschig' or 'Hielscher oder Hase'. There's no problem with playing songs or audiobooks.

ok thanks

shawnstein09 commented 4 years ago

Hi, it also occurs for local data. I added some songs from a cd to my playlists but they cant get streamed to volumio.

balbuze commented 4 years ago

This point is not related to the plugin.

shawnstein09 commented 4 years ago

Ok :( Too bad i cant organize all of my music via spotify :( Is there a chance to add this feature? I dont understand why its not implemented

balbuze commented 4 years ago

You can still the other plugin (not connect) with which you can have a mix of local tracks and Spotify tracks

This is tricky - https://github.com/volumio/volumio-plugins/issues/410#issuecomment-598102684 Need to find the time (or wait for someone ;-) ) to implement their newer api's into librespot

Nope, Spotify Connect streams music directly from their servers, so local tracks will never work..

I have the same problem: i can't stream spotify podcasts to Volumio (on my raspberry pi 4b ); system version: 2.8.34. Spotify music is not a problem. May be related to the same issue: I've added my spotify account (paid account , family account) but my podcasts on spotify are NOT visible in the Volumio web gui. They are also not found when doing a search on spotify (through the Voumio webGUI). Ggrtz Fred

They won't show up - the Volumio Spotify plugin is using a old deprecated libspotify based daemon.. The connect plugin uses librespot, that again someone needs to find the time to implement the newer API..

Ok Thanks for your quick reply. That means that there is nothing wrong with my Volumio setup ;-)

Hello,

I would like to confirm this issue, as I am experiencing trouble with the Spotify Connect 2 plugin as well.

If I have a podcast playing in the official Spotify app, the Volumio device shows “Unavailable to control” under the “Connect to a device” pane. The workaround is to start playing a song, connect Spotify to the Volumio device, then switch to the podcast.

Volumio Version: 2.909 Volumio Spotify Connect 2 Version: 1.0.5 Hardware: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B

Hi,

I have problem with podcast too. I can't search podcast from VolumIO If I add podcast to a playlist, I show it but can't play it. If I launch a podcast from Spotify application, either it starts then it passes successively others from the playlist after 2 seconds (if I have music in the playlist, it chains the titles after 2 seconds) or nothing start

Improvements are welcome ;-)

Thanks for all
