Private mode (Show only text/call received) #195

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Would be great have the option to enable a 'private mode' in which the
notification would only display 'New SMS received' or 'Incoming call' without
any more information, for those moments you let a friend use your computer or
someone is watching close to you.

Good idea, it'll be in next release of the multiplatform desktop app. Maybe, in
future we can modify the android app to not even send contact details on
private mode.

IMHO keeping the option only on the desktop app is simplest and less confusing
for the user. Also, if this is a protection for the display, it makes sense to
be on the side that displays it.

Ok, I've already committed changes to svn, we can close this now.

I believe private mode should be initiated from the phone or at least locked on
the desktop app. The whole idea is to hide the information for privacy reasons,
but anyone can enable it if they have access to the computer.

I think the phone should have this option too so we can remove it from the
desktop app. Should we reopen this issue?

I agree with lehphyro and gavsiu.

Agreed; surely it should be the user of the phone that determines the privacy
setting!

Also, the battery level notification should be always visible our at least
appear as an independent option, as it's not as confidential as texts/calls.
