What steps will reproduce the problem?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
host application reports error instead of notification on windows xp after both 
sides are set up.

I think you meant to file this under the multiplatform client project:
http://code.google.com/p/android-notifier-desktop/

Anyway, you probably also want to provide the error being reported.
