First off forgive me if I have misjudged how things work I have not had my machine apart to see why this is happening but it is whats causeing the spool lifting for me i tried to explain with text on the pictures
Below the gap has closed and the spool is turning under the power of the "roller" to bring filament back onto the spool and keep it rolled on nicely.
Below ..sometimes the Drive gear stays engaged to the teeth when it SHOULD be in free spin position as in the first picture ..when the extruder tries to "PULL" filament from the spool and the spool cant spin because the rubber roller is "engaged" it acts like a rubber brake and keep the spool from turning ... the effect is the filament spool gets pulled up and over the "roller" that refuses to spin freely
Im not sure what mechanisms are in place to make the gear engage the roller when it needs to retract filament and what makes it disengage ... like I said I have NOT taken my machine apart but ...there is more to what happening than the fact the spool is almost empty ..when your spool is "lifting " up if you can reach in and feel the roller is Locked down and not spinning <----- thats why the spool is lifting ...not sure what the fix is for this but looking forward to it , it seems very random for me as to when and why but the where is almost always on my spools slot #2
