Can't use "Replace with STL..." with STEP file since 1.10 #5305

Bambu Studio Version

1.10.0.89

Where is the application from?

Bambu Lab Official website

OS version

macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 (24A348)

Additional system information

Mac Mini 2023, M2 chip, 16 GB RAM

Printer

Bambu Lab X1 Carbon

How to reproduce

  1. Create a new project
  2. Import a STEP file (I used a file exported from Onshape as a version AP203 STEP file)
  3. Slice and print the file (works normally)
  4. Modify the original object in CAD and export a new STEP file using the same export settings
  5. Select the object in Bambu Studio, right click, and select "Replace with STL"
  6. Select the updated STEP file

Actual results

Nothing happens. The object isn't replaced. The new STEP import dialog doesn't appear. To replace the object, one must delete it and re-import it, as this function no longer works with STEP files. (Prior to the introduction of the new STEP import dialog, it worked with STEP files as well as STL files.)

Expected results

The STEP file should load and replace the selected object. The new STEP import dialog may appear.
