Barban: It could be a good idea to create a class general enough to be called in the same way in different scenarios:

• while running operations in a serial way (e.g. from command window)
• while running in parallel on a local machine
• while running in parallel on a remote machine (using communicating job)

Need to be able to:

• print to command window
• create figure
• update progress bar in existing GUI
