I thought of adding it to the existing /dats/ folder but that appears to be just for the xml gamelist dats - didn't want to cause confusion.
FYI I tested the post MAME 0.174 hiscore.dat (in donpachi) and it caused a hang. Old version works fine. I guess FBA's hiscore code is still using the 'old' format. We should watch to see if this changes in future versions.
This matches https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-libretro and https://github.com/libretro/mame2000-libretro. It's useful because it saves the user the step of finding the hiscore.dat, and allows it to be automatically put in the SAVE_DIRECTORY using install scripts (e.g. in RetroPie).
