how to change date and time.

Dear,

I want to task to begin and end on the same day and it won't allow me to do so. 
 Also, I want to use weekend dates on some parts of the chart

What do you mean when you say "won't allow me to do so"? Every new task is 
created with duration 1 day and thus it starts and ends on the same day. 
Doesn't it work for you?

Weekends in GP 2.6 are all-or-nothing: you can either have all weekends working 
(you can choose to show weekend days, though) or all weekends non-working. 

GP 2.7 supports weekend exceptions, see http://www.ganttproject.biz/ostrava

Thanks for such a prompt reply.  What I mean is, even when I type in the
specific end date, it changes to the next date.  How do I choose to show
weekend days?

Can you record a screencast showing how do you change dates? 

Calendar can be configured in
Project->Properties->Calendar
