"Show in timeline" unchecked but still shown #748

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Enter properties for a task
2. Select "Show in timeline"
3. Click "OK" to close properties dialog & verify that the task tag is shown
at the top of the timeline (by the year markings)
4. Enter properties for the same task again
2. Deselect "Show in timeline"
3. Click "OK" to close properties dialog & note that the task tag is still
shown at the top of the timeline (by the year markings)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The task tag should no longer be marked at the top by the year.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
  GP 2.6.1 Brno (build 1499) on Windows 8 x64

Please provide any additional information below.
This happened with 4 tasks, when I wanted to see what was the effect of checking the "Show in timeline" box. When I tried to reproduce the problem with other tasks in the same project (after closing & reopening), it could not be reproduced.
Also note that when I hover over a task tag at the top, the cursor turns from a hand to a pointer, as if to suggest I can click on it and something will happen. The first time I tried this, it generated an error message (sorry, didn't write it down). But now it just does nothing.
After closing and re-opening the program, the spurious task tags are gone. It's possible you will find this problem difficult to reproduce.

Show in timeline works fine for me: when it is unchecked, task label is not
shown, unless it is a milestone which is shown always (it is controlled by
chart options)

When mouse pointer is over a label, click makes corresponding task selected.
Double click opens its properties.

As I mentioned, you may find it difficult to reproduce the problem behavior. I
suppose you could call it 'unreproduceable', and then wait to see if anyone
else adds a comment to say that this happened to them as well...

If you manage to reproduce it again, can you post the contents of log? It is
available in Help->View log

I also experienced this problem with one of my tasks, but could not reproduce
it. Even if I delete the task in question, the label in the timeline remains.
I've attached the contents of my log, although I'm not sure what section is
relevant. Also attached a screenshot showing the label in the timeline after
cutting the task. The task is named "Event at Morgenzon, Lekwa." Thanks!!

I can reproduce this issue :
From an empty project,
1 - Create a new task
2 - Show task properties
3 - Check "show in timeline", OK. The task tag is shown
4 - Click on undo. The task tag is shown again.
5 - Show task properties, "show in timeline" is uncheck
