Task end date should be the date when it finishes, not the next day #90

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Insert a task with a given ending date

What is the expected output?

The chart reports the "ending date" as occupied by the task (i.e. the task
ends at the end of the selcted day

What do you see instead?

The task ends the day before.

To clarify out: if I have a task starting on february 15th lasting 15 days
I expect it to span until march 5th and the subsequent task not to start
until march 8th (march 6th and 7th being sat and sun).
This is set correctly if I insert the task starting on feb 15th and lasting
15 days, but doing so it puts as end date march 6th, which is NOT.

I think it should be a new option like "consider the task ending at the
beginning/end of the date".

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

2.0.9 on WinXP SP3

Please provide any additional information below.

Let me notice for the record that on the chart it renders correctly.

Agree that actual output does not match expected output. A 2 day task starting
on
Monday should have the the end day listed as Tuesday. GP shows end date as the
Wednesday, although the chart looks ok.

Hi everyone... I find this 'minor quibble' extremely annoying. I have a lot of
back-to-back projects and it really screws things up to have the duration of
each task different from the end date. No other project management software
contains this annoyance. I can only think it must be a coding error. In any
case, will it be fixed?

Also, in response to the comment left by weighell: No, its the opposite.

Take a look at the attached screenshot. The BEGIN DATE is the 20th and the END
DATE is the 24th. That should equal a DURATION of 5 days. Further, it should
read as 5 days on the chart (a solid bar stretching from the 20th to the 24th).

This should be a high priority! This small coding error renders a huge
scheduling error in anyone's project. How it has escaped attention beats me...

It seems it's not been fixed till now.
My organization is evaluating this software for prospective adaptation.
But with this bug , we may not get the buy-in.

IS it going to be fixed ?

This minor (easily fixable) problem has remained for several years now. I can
only assume this application is 'dead'.

I hope you understand that it is *you* who is supposed to test it, together
with other users.

Oh thanks. I didn't know about it. I thought "In Testing" means the development
team is testing the fix of the issue.
Thanks for the clarification.
