Won't save my files. #936

Hi, I just started using this. I'm getting the hang of it, but once I close
gantt, restart, or whatever, my files are always gone. There's only a text edit
file for what I made. The only gantt file that's ever there is the "house
building sample". Any help?

Sorry, but I am having hard time understanding what do you mean. What do you
mean when you say "gone"? Do you mean that they first appear on disk and then
somehow disappear? Anything else? What do you mean when you say "there's only a
text edit file" (I have no idea what do you mean, really). What do you mean
when you say "that's ever there" ? Where?

Long story short, it would be nice to have a more detailed and understandable
description of the problem.

Thanks. Sorry, I'm just saying that I save the file and give it a name and a
place, but then after I've closed gantt project, it's "gone", as in, there is
no file on my computer. The only file that exists with the name I gave it which
was "Painting Schedule" is a "log" called "painting schedule.gan" that comes up
in the "Text Edit" program with a bunch of computer language gibberish. The
gantt project, with the gantt project windows is nowhere to be found. I can
search my computer by the name, which was "Painting Schedule" and it's nowhere
to be found. If I open the Gantt Project Application, the only Gantt project
listed is the "House Building Sample". This has happened at least twice and
I've had to recreate the entire schedule each time. Am I doing something wrong?
In any other program, you would save it by giving it a name and choosing a
location, and next time you clicked on it, up would come the project. Thanks in
advance!

"painting schedule.gan" is your project file. It is not a log. It seems to be
associated on your computer with text editor (I don't know why. Some knowledge
about the operating system you're using, GanttProject version and the way you
installed it could help). You can open any GanttProject file with
"Project->Open" menu item in GanttProject.

Hope it helps.
