experiment with the relationship between the harmonic closeness of a note to the tonic and the strengh of the beat it's placed on.

harmonically closer pitches should probably be on stronger beats, generally, as they enforce the key

This might be a new type of melody generation. Or it could be a generic filter that could be used by different generators.

We can take this further and also include notes that have previously been played on strong beats. This will make the melody sound more cohesive and natural.

We shouldn't factor in harmonic closeness for this, because that would betray mode inclinations. We should take into account each pitch's function within the selected mode though.
