@CaptainEmerson Your question implies that grounded theory should be used to identify problems. The problem itself may actually be a knowledge gap, not necessarily issues that practitioners are facing.
Your previous text implied to me that the question I suggested was more apt:
Motivated by the desire to solve relevant problems faced by actual software practitioners, grounded theory...
In essence, grounded theory is a method for discovering the real problem...
