Crashes shortly after launch #719

0.7.15 (18.01.2015) on Ubuntu 14.10 (64-bit)

By simply launching the application, it crashes soon thereafter.  The crash 
appears to happen following the on-startup sync.  This first started happening 
right after the update to 0.7.15.  

It seems a workaround is to click on the Status bar (or perhaps others) before 
the sync finishes; in that case the window remains open.
