Use of 3DO movies turns slide intro into postag stamp on the top left corner of screen #257

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

After activating the 3DO movies and reverting back to the slides the intro is
now tiny and in the topleft of the screen in HD modes. This could effect the
ending cut-scene as well, but I haven't tried.

The work around is to delete the uqm.cfg and regenerate it. Not sure exactly
which specific option it is causing it.

Onpon4 pointed out that it's not a conflict with the 3do movies at all, and is
in fact due to the UQM Remix add-on. Disabling the addon fixes the issue
currently. :(

Yep, the culprit indeed is the UQM remix pack 4, which contains the
intro/ending sequences.

This is kind of not in our hands - to fix this we would either have to supply a
"remix pack 4 for HD" which contains the timing .txt file corrected with the
locations of 1280x960 graphics, or ask nicely if the Precursors would create
one for us.

What do you say, Damon?

Is there a way I can make the timing .txt file?

Out of curiosity, can't you do a hack where the uqm-hd files load after
uqm-remix and override whatever changes uqm-remix are doing to the intro. Or
just flat out have the executable ignore such files in the uqm-remix addon.

Oops, sorry for not replying, Damon. It seems, that no e-mail is sent to me
anymore about comments here after I changed you as the sole owner of this
issue. I'll cc myself.

jshpettus: Quick thinking :) That kind of hack can be done, but it means
default music for the intro and ending, and not the precursor mix music. (The
music definitions are married to the intro.txt and ending.txt timing files
pretty firmly).

Damon: I made the aforementioned kind of hack in r1384 so at least the graphics
are now fixed.
Making a proper intro.txt would take two kinds of changes: Copying our
intro.txt to a new location and changing the MUSIC line to point to the
precursor mix. That's easy. The second change would be to change the timings to
match the precursor mix's music (copying all the timings from the intro.txt in
precursors mix).

I have added an example intro.txt into our content. It's in a "remix" folder
with remix5.rmp. Cleverly, this folder allows us to load our own intro and
ending.txts after the real precursor remixes! So now it's just a matter of
creating the proper timing .txts and adding them into this "remix" folder. Do
you wanna do the timing files?
