Migrate to git? #278

I'd like to test the waters here, with respect to whether we should migrate to
git for mainline development. I think this would significantly improve our
ability to eventually merge basic high-res stuff into vanilla, and also help in
maintaining new features, translations, and the like separately from the main
HD mod stuff in branches. The git mirror currently on sourceforge is messy and
highly out-of-date, I can easily perform a new high-quality conversion if we
decide to do this.

Ok, why not, if it'll be better in the long run. Did you just recently update
the GIT mirror by the way?

What kind of steps do we have to take to migrate to GIT?

I've just made a brand-new conversion, yes. It's now exactly three commits
behind SVN, but I can redo the *whole thing* trivially. The technical bits are
pretty much a solved problem. The only thing that remains is to simply decide
whether or not we want to start *using* the git conversion that essentially
already exists, hence this "bug".
