On Google Classic Maps there used to be the facility when searching for something in an area to click on its icon on the map and be able to enter directions to it or go into street view mode to see it
For example in your Search type "Hotels Runcorn" and beds are displayed on the map in grey but none are clickable for the options above.
Classic maps would also give a listing down the right hand side of the screen of hotels indicated by a letter on the map
