Improve scale bar #6

It would be good if the scale bar more closely approximated the Classic Maps scale ruler (directly overlaid onto screen) instead of the New Maps' scale ruler (tucked away in the right-hand corner, barely visible).

ANY CHANCE to have a 'Scale Bar' that's floating and transparent or partially? Goog-Map, had to grab the whole map and move it to the scale bar. Basic straight line and when moved circular? THANKS!!!

It would be possible to make such a thing. Its not simply a case of turning it on tho, as its not provided by the API itself.

Classic maps, had the distance measurement tool, which was good for getting scale, as could just directly measure things.

Would be quite nice to make a measure tool with the drawling library https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/drawing-tools can draw circles (and could in turn display the radius/diamater and even area of the circle. )

barryhunter: Ya,... That solid yellow circle wouldn't work well, can't see through or near the edges. I was thinking more of a thin edge, just for 'As the crow flys' measurement. Goog-Map had a straight line tool but didn't stay up long.

A measurement tool.. that's about the only thing I like in the new Google maps.
