New old maps #93

It seems that now the "old" maps look like the new ones: the look and interface changed. Apart from changed Google logo, which I do not care, I dislike the following:

  1. Minor: The controls "map|satelite" are bigger now, covering more of the map. Can we make them back as usual?
  2. Major: the scale bar is absent. One cannot scale into proper zoom in 1 click, but has to go through a series of clicks (slow).
  3. Major: the worst of all is that controls are placed in the opposite corners of the map (map|satelite in the TL corner, zoom in the BR corner), so one has to move the mouse pointer all over the map. Who invented such a UI? Can ALL controls be placed close together?

Regards, Edward

There nice writeup here: http://techforluddites.com/new-controls-on-old-google-maps/

For the most part this is outside of our control (its Googles decision) - except we could move the controls around, can override what corner items are put (on the map at least, would have to check for SV).

I see. Then, at least, put controls not so far away, e.g. TL corner and below. Thanks in advance, Edward
