iMessages, FaceTime and Apple TV not working #12

Hi, I installed beta 3 on my Mac Pro 2009 (5,1 firmware upgraded) last time using your patch, everything worked except iMessages, FaceTime and TV app. I thought the issue was in the beta.

but today I formatted and freshly installed BigSur public beta using your patch and they are still not working. So I went back and installed Catalina using the dosdude's Catalina patcher and everything works again. Now I installed back the BigSur public beta with your patch and they don't work anymore, meaning iMessages and FaceTime don't let me login.

I think it has to do with resetting NVRAM. I tried by resetting NVRAM (which caused system to show this sign- ø) then I used the bootable USB and repeated the step 6 alone. Now it boots again into the OS. But then when I tried to log back into the FaceTime and iMessages, it let's me in into a nonfunctional iMessages app: no sync, send and receive messages. As soon as I log out and log back in, its doesn't log me in anymore, same problem repeats.

And as for the TV app, the content plays for only 5-8seconds then the content window automatically closes.

Can you please look into this issue or guide me if I am missing something in the setup process?

Thank you so much!

Best PSZ

What version of my patcher did you use for beta 4? There was a problematic NVRAM modification in v0.0.18 and earlier, but v0.0.19 removed that. If you performed step 6 using v0.0.18 or earlier after doing the NVRAM reset, then do step 6 again using v0.0.19 or later, and see if that fixes it.

If that doesn't fix it, then I'd like to know, what happens when you try to use Maps? (Does the map ever show up on the screen, or does it seem to just never appear?) This should give me a better idea of what's going on.

for beta 3 I used V0.0.17. and for the beta 4 (Public beta 1) I used v0.1.0., maps were working great both the times but not the FaceTime, iMessages and TV app. I saw new improvement yesterday. I signed out of TV app and then reseted the NVRAM again (step 6) and the FaceTime and iMessages started working. but the maps app is crashing (quit unexpectedly) and I am afraid to open the TV app now. I am also facing mic issue, headphones jack is not detecting 'apple ear buds microphone' unless I restart the computer or wakeup from sleep with them plugged in.

Thank you so much for getting back to me.

This is something that is not related to the patch but was wondering if you can guide me. I have DW1560 wifi bluetooth card and I am trying to get it detected on my real MacPro 2010. with the Airportbrcmfixup.kext I am able to get the wifi detected but the bluetooth 4.0 is not being detected. I tried all the possibilities with these kexts and I never saw the Bluetooth detected. https://github.com/acidanthera/BrcmPatchRAM/blob/master/README-Mac.md It would be really helpful if you can suggest some fix. Thanks you, Barrykn!

I'm stumped. I don't know what's causing your problems. Sorry. (I also have no advice to offer on the DW1560, unfortunately.)

This probably won't help me figure it out, but just in case I'm wrong about that: What kind of graphics card are you using on your 2009 Mac Pro?

That’s totally fine, I understand! Thanks a lot for the patch tho, at least I have Big Sur running 🤜🏼

I am using GTX 680 Mac edition

I think I'll keep this issue open for a while, in case I figure it out at some point or someone else comes across any clues.

Sure, barrykn! Thanks

Hi, I don’t see issue with maps or messages but the Apple TV problem continues with the final version of BigSur and with the latest vr of patch. Even the HBO max video not playing on safari, looks like the content is not recognizing the hardware. Can you please look into that if you can?

On the Catalina with dosdude patch, Media on TV app continues to play. Including the HBO max content in the safari.

Thanks!!
