Hi all I was just wondering: if I updated my iMac successfully to macOS 11.x with the big-sur-micropatcher... Can I the upgrade normally or do I have to use the patcher again? Thanks a lot.

It is the full installer for macOS Big Sur 11.2. You should reproduce all the steps mentioned in the README.md again

If I boot from the USB stick and start installing I have a screen showing "macOS Recovery" and I should enter the password for my user. The system does not accept the password. I am sure typing it in the right way and language setting is ok too. What can I do?

Sorry if I insist. But is it probably an issue. I installed in November 11.1. and realize now that I can not turn of FileVault and not even start the Mac in Secure Mode?

BenSova/Patched-Sur#83 is tracking that exact problem. Yes, it is for my patcher, but the instructions in my most recent comment are exactly the same for both the micropatcher and Patched Sur.

You didn't have FileVault on, therefore you didn't have the issue. Either way, this is probably a duplicate issue of the micropatcher and we've already provided all the details of the workaround, so yes please close this issue.

Reading this I am uncertain to solve the issue: do I have to go back to an original Catalina-Installation, then deactivating FileVault and upgrading or can I deactivate FileVault on a fresh patched BigSur installation?

_FileVault has been buggy throughout the entire Big Sur development cycle. For maximum stability, disable FileVault before upgrading to Big Sur. Once you upgrade to Big Sur, bugs may make it impossible to disable FileVault and may make it impossible to unlock your FileVault volumes when applying updates or booting from the installer USB. (Not to mention, FileVault bugs may also make it impossible to open Terminal on the installer USB.) The best way out of this conundrum is probably to back up the entire Big Sur installation using Time Machine (Time Machine encryption, unlike FileVault, appears to be stable), erase and reinstall Big Sur, and use the Setup Assistant to restore the Time Machine backup.

Upgrading from a Catalina installation which has been patched using dosdude's macOS Catalina Patcher results in an unstable system. The instability is not fixed by running the Big Sur installer again. So far, the only fix seems to be similar to the method for disabling FileVault: Back up the entire Big Sur installation using Time Machine, erase and reinstall Big Sur, and use the Setup Assistant to restore the Time Machine backup. In my testing, this appears to correct the instability.

Time Machine backups must be restored by first performing a fresh Big Sur installation and then doing the Time Machine restore from the Setup Assistant. Attempting to do the restore from the installer USB fails. I do not yet know if this is inherent to Big Sur, inherent to the patching process, or a bug in this patcher._

I have instructions in this issue it is my most recent comment, step by step, you cannot miss it. It's easy steps that work for both the micropatcher and my patcher.

After updating my macbook pro mid-2012 from 11.1 to 11.2 the computer ask for a network reinstall. Same issue after downgrading to 11.1. Any idea ?

This is no issue! After updating you got a new freshly installed macOS version without any patches possibly needed to run your hardware well. So you have to patch the system, again! This will happen now for all upcoming upgrades as well if you decide to downgrade. You have to go through the complete instructions.

look it on the micropatcher directory and run it on a terminal, then reboot... i run it as sudo just in case

Is it possible to make this auto update from Apple? So I have to re-run the patcher every time a new update is released indefinitely?

I have been working on my own updater for my patcher and once that is finally finished you won't need a USB or have to apply patches, but that will take a while since it has been problematic so far.

I restarted on my USB key after reseting PRAM but I can't find this patch on it. Nor explanation in complete instructions.

I can't find these instructions. After applying patch-kexts.sh my mac reboot repeatedly without end...

yes friend you need to do all the process everytime you want to upgrade, download the 12gb iso and prepare usb just took lees an a hour and you can do when doing something else....upgrade process is less a half and any file is deleted.... sorry if i giave you incomplete instructions, i assume you are using a patched usb installer... there is a lot of threads here about it.... i think the only problem was wifi connection after upgrade, as happenned to me...
