@adferrand any objections to merging this please? I thought that as the plugin ABI is necessarily somewhat rigid, moving up to 18.04 would give us more time before any potential ABI break becomes required. However the change does need some build changes, including the switch to lxd from Docker, because there is no 18.04-based snapcraft Docker image maintained and available for Travis.
