https://github.com/bashtage/sphinx-material/commit/00385d666e5f9475b5c255dbbb14cd41a07ea769#diff-b4ef698db8ca845e5845c4618278f29aR6 added slugify dependency which was not released since 2010 year (https://pypi.org/project/slugify/#history) and seems unmaintained. This package supports only Python 2.
https://pypi.org/project/python-slugify/ is the right dependency and it is already at requirements.txt
PS: hm... tag for 0.0.29 release is missed at github, but presents at pypi
