PC don't wake up #188

I got a PC that I can wake up from my Android device (which is using my static IP and port forward on a different port) but I can't wake it up from this application (which i'm using only my lan).

I have tried all the settings, of course I have checked that the MAC address is correct and tried both with the computers name and the IP-address on my local LAN but without any success.

I also have added port 9 to be open in the Windows Firewall and tried to look at the Listener included but nothing happens there.

Any suggestions (it would be nice to don't have to pick up my mobile to wake up that computer every time)?

Very good that you tried the Listener. You confirmed that the WOL packets are not reaching the computer. This eliminates a lot of other problems.

So, we need to find out why the traffic isn't reaching it. Are the two computers on the same network? Same subnet? It's rare, but it is also possible you have some software blocking the OUTGOING WOL packets from the source computer. Are you able to Ping the remote computer from the source computer? Does it show ONLINE in the WOL program?

Thank's for your reply.

Both computers are on the same network and the same network and I've tested Ping and it works, the WOL program also shows when it's online so it must be something that blocks the outgoing WOL-packet.

I don't think I got anything that would block the outgoing traffic on port 9, the only thing I can think of is that the computer I'm sending the WOL from is connected to the main router and the other is connected to an router working as a slave (I'm using it as a hub and to enforce the wifi) but since I can send the WOL from my mobile (using the static IP-address and a port forward in the main router) it seems strange that it would be the issue.

Presumably you can see WOL packets on the listener when you hit it with the Android WOL app? Its probably not relevant in this case, but I believe WOL packets are sometimes sent over port 7

You might benefit from using wireshark to see whats going on at the packet level. Sounds like an internal router is blocking something to me.

You can certainly change the port that WOL uses, but I do not think that will help. I agree with Moopere on Wireshark, or, just run the listener function on the destination computer and see if you are receiving packets.
