Special Characters won't appear #17

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Some Special characters in de xls.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected to see the ë but instead i get a white space, with the other 
special characters i get the same problem

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
i am using version 2.22 on Mac with firefox.

Please provide any additional information below.
