Batocera build version

v38

Your architecture

PC \ Loki Zero

Your Graphic Processor Unit (GPU)

None

Graphical brand

None

Issue description

I have a set of Acorn Electron roms - all the .uef files work fine - they load like old tapes (take a while to load!). However, if I try either the disc formats .ssd or .adf, the games do not start. I had 4 versions of Arcadians: .uef, .adf, .ssd and .ssd in a zip file.

Expected result

Games in .adf or .ssd should run as they do when .uef

Reproduction steps

Copy Arcadians.ssd or Arcadians.adf to the folder, refresh, try to run.

Logs and data

es_launch_stderr.log display.log es_launch_stdout.log

Logs from .adf failure

Can't reproduce, I can run ssd games here , even Arcadians

Ok, let me try a fresh install on another PC, with a different ssd rom and see if I get the issue there. Will report back with results.

Any update?

Apologies, I tried burning v38 to my x86 PC but I had issues with the image. Then got side tracked. Let me try again over the next few days / weekend and I'll try to confirm or resolve this issue. Was using a Loki Zero, so will try and retest with and x86 or Steam Deck. Will come back by Monday.

Will try and retest today or tomorrow.

Hi, I've retested this now with v38 on my Loki Zero and today on Steam Deck. I cannot get any .ssd games to run on the Acorn Electron on v38. Sorry for the delayed response. I get the same video display error on both. I've tried all sorts of different roms form various sources. .uef files all run fine. Anything else: .adf or .ssd fails. I've attached the relevant logs.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. Only just got round to retesting. Is there a way to reopen this defect? I can attach the Arcadians rom if needed.

You're loading a disk image with the options set to load a cassette image. Please retry with the correct configuration.

SuperBadger77 commented 6 months ago

Ah, I can test that tonight. In fact I'll try it now.

SuperBadger77 commented 6 months ago

So I just retested. I have 5 games: .adf .ssd .uef and 2 .rom files. All options set to default. For the adf and ssd I then set the media to floppy, the uef to cassette and the roms to cartridge. The adf and ssd now get further (before I didn't even get the acorn screen) but both get stuck 'searching'. The uef works fine (worked previously). The 2 roms get stuck on a 'Locked' prompt. See attached screen shots. IMG_6211 IMG_6212 IMG_6213 IMG_6214 IMG_6215 IMG_6216

I would have thought the OS would detect the media anyway? It does seem to auto detect ok on the BBC - never had to set the media type before.
