by default the RPi5 like many SBC's for Batocera start in Performance
governor mode to ensure the best GUI & game performance. Therefore it runs at a higher base clock rate.
Hello thank you for the informations. I made Performance level to Energy Saving but heating doesent disapear. Menue still 60+ Degree also Super Mario Bros 1 and every NES ans SNES Game runs hot.
in the Explorer (Button F1) Temps are fine. I use this for Dolphin as a workaround.

Issue description
overheating already in menue. Also in every Game (NES, SNES, Megadrive...) FPS in menue vary between 100 - 130, in games its 60fps. Raspberry is cooled passiv. I got no thermal problems when i use Supreme Retropie. Only when i try hardcore benchmarking with Raspberry Pi OS it becomes as hot as in Batocera menue!
Detailed reproduction steps
installed V39 and v40 with Raspberry Pi Imager on a 256GB SD card.
Details of any attempts to fix this yourself
Tried V39 and actual V40 Beta, 60/120Hz, vsync on/off, Dualcore on/off, Energy saving, lowering resolution, installed a new Batocera image, updated EEPROM - no effect at all (still 60+ Degree in menue and NES, SNES, megadrive... games).
Details of any modifications you have made to Batocera.
No modifications done. Its vanilla batocera.
