That's strange. Your check for the versions look right to me. So if it's too old it shouldn't add the --katex parameter and everything should be fine ..

Concerning using local files - the problem is always that, for some reason, the PySide webbrowser really supports having only one .css file. So I would need to merge the KaTeX one inside the already existing one.

The display problem seems to be beyond our responsibility, though, no? We should open a ticket on their Github.

the KaTeX css doesn't hurt when there is no KaTeX support, right? It just doesn't get used
