Sounds interesting, I suppose we'd need an adjustment to both the graph view and the player view: to show graphs over time based on too averaged videos and similar for the player. Would also have to manage the offset between the two.
I agree with your comments Dave. This would be a very powerful feature for an archive, as anything similar like a Picture Quality Analyser hardware/software can be expensive and complicated to run.
+1 - it could also be great to compare captures of the same tape on different decks to help figure out which produces a more satisfactory image. OR perhaps compare the output of a BetaSP from a digibeta deck with internal a2d vs a native BetaSP deck with external a2d or things like that.

Slightly off topic but I'm curious - is it possible to devise an ffmpeg script that will open and play two files in a directory at the same time, and with the temporal difference filter? It would be beneficial to add to ffmprovisr.

Hi @kellyhaydon I’ll add this to the ffmprovisr wish list.
This would be an obvious method to see differences in encoding and compression. Great for seeing differences between lossless and lossy.
