As a curious typical citizen coming across the app for the first time, I would like to have a way to see the percentages of people belonging to each census designation.
Current behavior:
If percentage is selected, the app shows the breakdown within each category by adequacy. This may show 80% of people making >$200K live within 15 miles of a provider, and mut. mut. 70% of people making <$15K, but it does not allow me to compare the sizes of these two groups in absolute terms.
If number is selected, the app shows the number of people in each category / access zone combination. To find the percentage of people belonging to that category, I would have to add up the numbers across all access zones and then divide by the total population.
Expected behavior:
The "percentage by category" numbers are clearly visible without any need for mental math.
These numbers don't depend on access, but they're interesting pieces of information that help answer questions users are naturally curious about when viewing the app -- e.g., "how racially diverse is rural Texas?"
I think the idea was that the second chart would help achieve this, but it doesn't quite b/c it's still broken up by access. Would a single donut chart work?
