A logo would be awesome. The closest thing we have to a logo right now is the thing that shows up when you run the webfiles development server.
Not saying the Invisible College should be our logo though. It might be nice if we can get one of Google's graphic designers to create us something fabulous and Googley.
Curious what @hochhaus @joeltine or @matrixfrog think.
Part of the problem is that Closure tools itself has no logo, so there's really no compositional guidance there.
Closure's default logo has always been https://avatars1.githubusercontent.com/u/3903090?v=3&s=200
Oh sorry, I always thought that was for google tech blogs, not Closure in particular. My apologies.
It isn't very aesthetically pleasing but we could combine the bazel and closure logos.
On second thought, getting one of Google's graphic designers seems like a very good idea. :)
I'm sure I could start a friendly conversation with a few people to make something like that happen. But maybe we should brainstorm a bit first. What does Closure Rules mean to you? What are some words or ideas that epitomize its value? What does this project represent? What are some existing symbols, animals, icons, etc. that might relate to its meaning?
Looking at that I'd say Closure logo is due for an upgrade, just like the Google logo itself has evolved over the years. Needs more overall padding, more negative space, and I don't get what the square is supposed to be. Perhaps 4 overlapping circles/rings, something similar to the olympic rings: they are are all different, but work together (compiler, library, templates, stylesheets).
I agree. I was never too keen on the Closure logo.

Now you're describing the logo on my car :-)
Also side note but having logo art be computer sciency is cool, but not a strict requirement. I thought this graph diagram looked nice.
Nice, I am a sucker for graph diagrams.
I'm sitting in bed with my boyfriend right now and I asked him, "what is a good logo for a build system?" and he said, "uh, a building?" I actually think that's delightfully apropos. Especially considering the tagline of the project right now is "ivory tower build system" and the ANSI art for the webfiles server is of the Invisible College.
Create a logo for rules_closure.
