interface is up. Isn't it visible in network settings in DSM ?

Sandor-dev commented 2 years ago

Thank you for reply.

In DSM control panel it isn't visible. I used the front panel.

chmooreck commented 2 years ago

$ dmesg | grep eth2

You've got openvswitch (bridge) configured on eth0 and eth1 ? Maybe try to turn it off for eth2 test ?

I'm not sure if DSM doesn't hide other interfaces when ovs is on.

Sandor-dev commented 2 years ago

I uninstalled the Virtual Machine Manager and switched off the open virtual switch. I removed the bond from eth0 and eth1 Restarted the NAS. I cannot see any error in dmesg and the dmesg | grep eth2 does not show anything.

I stopped the docker too -> nothing happen. I tried many linux commands what i found on internet, most of it not working. I tried ifconfig eth2 up --> THEN IT looks like WORKS!!!! it looks in the control pane/network interfaces, but cannot configure. If you try it will disappear. then dmesg [ 1369.372796] ppid:17833(ssdp.sh), pid:17842(reg_ssdp_servic), dirtied inode 33504 (desc-DSM-eth0.xml) on md0 [ 1369.372804] ppid:17833(ssdp.sh), pid:17842(reg_ssdp_servic), dirtied inode 33504 (desc-DSM-eth0.xml) on md0 [ 1369.373609] ppid:17833(ssdp.sh), pid:17842(reg_ssdp_servic), dirtied inode 33679 (desc-DSM-eth1.xml) on md0 [ 1369.373632] ppid:17833(ssdp.sh), pid:17842(reg_ssdp_servic), dirtied inode 33679 (desc-DSM-eth1.xml) on md0 [ 1369.373637] ppid:17833(ssdp.sh), pid:17842(reg_ssdp_servic), dirtied inode 33679 (desc-DSM-eth1.xml) on md0 [ 1369.386254] ppid:17833(ssdp.sh), pid:17845(cp), dirtied inode 389937 (desc-DSM-eth0.xml) on tmpfs [ 1369.386480] ppid:17833(ssdp.sh), pid:17845(cp), dirtied inode 389938 (desc-DSM-eth1.xml) on tmpfs [ 1370.359119] ppid:0(swapper/0), pid:1(systemd), dirtied inode 392532 (dhclient@eth2.service) on cgroup [ 1370.359415] ppid:0(swapper/0), pid:1(systemd), dirtied inode 392538 (dhclient@eth2.service) on cgroup [ 1370.374140] ppid:18077(dhclient.sh), pid:18084(cp), dirtied inode 16703 (dhcpv4.leases.eth2) on md0 [ 1371.420903] ppid:18126(dhclient.sh), pid:18128(cp), dirtied inode 16703 (dhcpv4.leases.eth2) on md0 [ 1372.608959] ppid:0(swapper/0), pid:1(systemd), dirtied inode 393343 (dhclient@eth2.service) on cgroup [ 1372.609070] ppid:0(swapper/0), pid:1(systemd), dirtied inode 393349 (dhclient@eth2.service) on cgroup [ 1372.622463] ppid:18281(dhclient.sh), pid:18286(cp), dirtied inode 16703 (dhcpv4.leases.eth2) on md0 [ 1372.652698] ppid:1(systemd), pid:17302(syslog-ng), dirtied inode 14926 (dhclient@eth2.service.log) on md0 [ 1372.652716] ppid:1(systemd), pid:17302(syslog-ng), dirtied inode 14926 (dhclient@eth2.service.log) on md0 [ 1372.652721] ppid:1(systemd), pid:17302(syslog-ng), dirtied inode 14926 (dhclient@eth2.service.log) on md0 [ 1373.677589] ppid:18467(dhclient.sh), pid:18469(cp), dirtied inode 16703 (dhcpv4.leases.eth2) on md0

Ok, this is something. But unfortunately beyond my knowledge.

I have never heard any reports of Fenvi RTL8156b before so it could be a problem on the sides of this device. Is it possible to return it and exchange it for another device that has been reported to work with braswell models? https://github.com/bb-qq/r8152/wiki/Compatibility

Sandor-dev commented 2 years ago

Nope, I would try with this model (Should be same, isn't it?) I already asked some friends IRL to help me. I will reply the progression of work.

Update!

The original Fenvi usb adapters started to work on DS916+

1., installed the latest driver from this repo: 2.16.3-3 DSM7.x (reuploaded) during the installation got warning: we must login via ssh and paste the command and retry the installation. 2., start the package 3.: via SSH check the usb hardwares: lsusb 4.: if you found your network card switch on: ifconfig eth2 up 5.: now you can find it on GUI, but you cannot set up an IP for it. ip a s eth2 6.: give IP address: ip addr add 192.168.yoursubnet.3rdcardIP/24 dev eth2 you are done! And my Fenvi cards started to working. But never buy FENVI 2.5G to USB ethernet, because it can link up as 2.5G but the total speed is maximum 1 gigabit. ( tested) Now I have DLINK cards.
