People don't get a lot of sleep. #1

I speculate that this issue will not be closed for a while, so it's a pretty good issue #1 ("alpha issue" - that's what the kids are calling them these days).

What do you think are the main causes of sleep deprivation? That seems like a reasonable place to start.

Objectively, where does sleep deprivation rank in comparison to other problems? What's one issue directly ahead of sleep and one directly behind? (When I say "directly," you better believe I mean "directly." That is, don't tell me that civil wars are a bigger problem than sleep deprivation because [1] they're not and [2] that's on a completely different scale. For example, if civil wars were the issues [which they are not], then you might say that evil dictators are directly behind them in priority and religious tensions are directly ahead of them in priority. Hope this parenthetical tangent cleared things up for you schmucks.)

If you think of an issue directly less important than sleep deprivation, go ahead and open it! No issues for bigger problems, though. The beauty of this repo is that sleep deprivation will be the biggest issue we take on, and since we can only get smaller from here, maybe we'll even solve some of those issues!

Introduction

Hi @vingkan ! Thanks for letting us know about your issues. Ridj Radj is glad to have such a concerned community member among us and we're grateful for your presence.

Thesis Statement

The three main causes of sleep deprivation are memes, academic busywork, and late night video calls debating the philosophical merits of higher education and questioning the essence of education through energizing examinations.

Memes

image 'Nuff said. Memes destroy dreams. Don't let @steinomatic tell you otherwise.

Academic busywork

If I had a dollar for every time I stayed up past 3 am doing calculus homework, I'd have six dollars. And I don't want any dollars because I don't want to do my damn calculus homework at 3 am.

Late night video calls debating the philosophical merits of higher education and questioning the essence of education through energizing examinations

Oh, the wonders of the free world. The Statue of Liberty, the White House, the Great Meme of China. And now, brought to you by the epic memers of the south side, we deliberate and advance the human condition with regards to intellectual development at educational institutions of the higher order. Our conclusions have led to a startling revelation - the pursuit of knowledge is often in vain, due in whole to the unfounded motivation for grades and academic success. While some might say our nightly Agora is itself insignificant, I propose a counterpoint - why are late night video calls debating the philosophical merits of higher education and questioning the essence of education through energizing examinations better than say, sleeping? Checkmate, atheists ✓

Conclusion

I must thank you again @vingkan for your curious observations of both Ridj Radj and consciousness on a higher level. Your inquiries have certainly sparked revolutionary conversation surrounding the topic of sleep deprivation and I hope that our community is up to the arduous task of surmounting the problems facing us today.

@bbatliner I'm afraid that Pepe the Frog is no longer meme standard http://www.adl.org/combating-hate/hate-on-display/c/pepe-the-frog.html?referrer=https://www.google.com/

@bencooper222 As a civil community operating under common law, retroactive criminal legislation is not permitted. For further reading, see Ex post facto law.

And yet, I acknowledge that the times have changed, and will adjust my behavior moving forward, but it would be wrong to criminalize my past actions without considering the context in which I was acting.
