Alternative Textbooks? - Githubissues

Would there happen to be any textbooks similar to Mooney's that could be used for this course? I was reading through it and found it to be a very slow read. I was hoping it would have a wide range of examples and applications.

Most of the alternative textbooks I know are even more biology-focused (but most are also a bit more technical)

More general textbooks:

Giordano and Fox A First Course in Mathematical Modeling
Jones et al. Introduction to Scientific Programming and Simulation Using R

Biology-focused:

Ellner and Guckenheimer (mathier than Mooney and Swift; largely biological, but ranges across neuroscience/biochemistry/ecology
Logan and Wolesensky Mathematical Methods in Biology
Otto and Day A Biologist's Guide to Mathematical Modeling (probably about equivalent in mathiness, even more biology-focused)
