Student - Add New Option for Student Non-Residency (Dependent of parent, sponsor, legal guardian, step parent who IS a Resident of BC

User Story As a Student, I want to confirm that one of my parents/sponsors/legal guardians/step-parents is a resident of B.C, so that I can receive appropriate funding as a dependent student. I also don't want to answer additional questions on residency if its not required.

Current Behavior

• Question on 'personal information' tab asks student whether they are a Resident of BC
• Selecting 'no' to this question triggers Exception path, and requires student to answer one of several reasons for why they should still be considered eligible. (See photo below). Only when student selects 'other' does the application form trigger a document uploader.

Problem

• We ask this residency question of EVERY student, when in fact we should only be asking it of students who are correctly identified as independent students. Therefore there will be lots of dependent students who are not residents of B.C., and are sent down the exception path unnecessarily.

Expected Behavior

• Question on 'personal information' tab asks student whether they are a Resident of BC
• If student selects 'no' to this question, a new option should be added which does NOT trigger the exception path. (see ACs below)

Acceptance Criteria

• [ ] If a student selects 'no' to the BC Residency question on the application, Add a check box, with the text "I am considered a dependent student and at least one of my parents/sponsors/legal guardians/step-parents is a resident of B.C.".
  • [ ] If this new option is selected, do NOT trigger the exception path and disable any validation requiring supporting documentation being uploaded (if this validation exists at all).
  • [ ] If this option is not selected continue, then. continue to exception path of students answering one of several reasons for why they should still be considered eligible. (See photo below). Only when student selects 'other' does the application form trigger a document uploader.

Moved inline questions down to the comments sections @Hugh Confirming if this impacts WHEN we determine if a student is Independent or Dependent. down the line. Does the output of this change this down the line? @Michelle (replied Sep 1) No - there are no changes to when this question is asked. FYI there will be a post-MVP enhancement that relocates / reconfigures this question altogether, but it's more work, and this is the minimal solution required to provide enough info to the business area to process the exception requests properly.
