Shapefiles of bear dens in First Nations territories

Create shapefiles of bear den point features within BC First Nations territories.

Shapefiles are currently stored on the L: drive here: L:\Environmental Stewardship\Black Bear\BEAR DEN DATABASE\Shapefiles\Bear Dens x FN 20240809

This directory contains:

• A single point feature shapefile containing the intersection between all bear den locations and all First Nations territory, created manually in QGIS using BCGW layers, then exported (bear_dens_x_FN_20240809.gpkg)
• A summary csv of how many bear dens can be found within each nation (dens_fn_areas_n.csv)
• Individual shapefiles of bear dens within each territory (contained in the Individual_Nation_Shp folder)
• The R script used to generate all the data products (bear_dens_x_FN.R)

In most cases, bear den point features have been disaggregated by First Nations PIP treaty regions. However, for treaty regions with multiple nations, e.g. Maa-Nulth, additional statistics + shapefiles have been generated for each individual Nation within the treaty region.
