Hello, my name is Kevin King (Typotheque) and I work in collaboration with Heiltsuk Revitalization, a department of the Heiltsuk Tribal Council, Bella Bella, British Columbia.

This past July 2023, a proposal that we prepared together to add three new characters to Unicode for Haíɫzaqvḷa was accepted by the Unicode Technical Committee:

Three new Unicode Characters Haíɫzaqvḷa3

Recently, in early November 2023, the Unicode Technical Committee accepted our request for these three characters to be published in version 16.0 of the Unicode Standard, to be released in September 2024:

Unicode Character Pipeline, Characters Approved for Publication in Version 16.0: https://unicode.org/alloc/Pipeline.html#v16_0

Draft Minutes of UTC Meeting 177: https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2023/23231.htm#177-C19

As part of the Haíɫzaqvḷv community's preparation for the publication and availability of these new characters in September 2024, we would like to request the update of the BC Sans typeface to include support for these three new characters.

I have prepared updates to Google's Noto Sans typeface to include glyphs for these three new characters and their corresponding code points. I would be happy to contribute these three new glyphs to the BC Sans source file(s) via PR or other means in order to create this update.

Thank you for your consideration, Kevin King

Thanks for reaching out on this. Excellent work on the new characters. All edits to the BC Sans font must go through a review process. We have forwarded your message onto the folks that manage the BC Sans font. Look to hear from them shortly. - Tara Kerner
